Hardship to influence

As an artist I draw inspiration from my background in the Caribbean, although the imagery is captivating, my inspiration comes from the values within my community. Perseverance, hard work, and creative problem solving are all attributes of daily life on a small island. These values are carried through my work as a creative. For me, being an artist is more than just creating work, it is how I view the world and move through life.

One of the biggest moments of influence for me was hurricane Maria. Despite the lack of power, houses, or solid infrastructure the community focused on the growth not the loss. As a community we came together to rebuild our home and became stronger through this. It was this experience that made the most impactful impact on who I am today as a person and creative.
